Default JDM Hawkeye Castor Angle

Is the castor angle on a 2006 JDM different from that of the UK and Euro models?

Are there any differences in the geo settings in general?

Come one...

Someone must know?

I've been told that the JDM hawk runs a much higher castor angle than the UK models, is this true??

No. They all had 2540mm wheelbase which gives the same castor angle.

Thank you sir, much appreciated.

That being the case, why does the JDM Hawkeye STI have such superior steering weight and feel to the UK and Euro models? Is it just because of the 13:1 rack?

Surely then all Type UK owners should rush out and buy a 13:1 rack, but this is never really discussed for some reason...

Funny, I was told by a well known Subaru Specialist that the JDM Hawkeyes have increased castor compared to the UK models.

Yes, the JDM hawkeye STIs have the 13:1 rack which gives it more meat and directness as compared to the UK/Euro's 15:1 rack. Also, the JDM cars come with 235 section tyres as compared to 225s on the UK/Euro.

I believe part of the reason is that it isn't exactly a direct plug and play part. I have a Euro hatch STI and went out to buy a JDM 13:1 rack as soon as the car got run in. But that led me to a whole lot of problems with the VDC and steering angle. The system just got confused with the quicker ratio steering rack.

The increased castor was first seen and only available in the bugeye Type RA Spec C. Afterwhich, the MY05 onwards STI adopted this increased castor.

Hope this helps.

I've heard it's a bit of a headache on the hatch due to the VDC, but does anyone have experience of using a 13:1 rack on a newage?
