Default 03 STI PPP, rather quick

Owned for 4 days now and loving it.!! Now....

Just over a year ago i had a 2wd cossie running 350bhp, (harvey gibbs engine) It was very very quick.

There is a small strech of road up where i live (Thurso) where by if i lauch it and basically give it all until i reach a small side road heading down to a beach, This is a quiet bit of road and i've always used it as an indication of how quick my cars are.

The cossie could hit just under 130mph when passing it. I tried it in the scoob today... i got just over 120mph.

Now considering that the cossie was a genuine 352bhp tested car and the PPP imprezas dont give 305bhp when they are on the rollers a loss of 6-8mph is amazing. The 6speed box obviously makes a big difference.

And then there is the transmisson loss between a 4wd car and a 2wd car. I cant get my head round it?

in real terms you need to have over 100+ bhp to make any sort of leaps in speed.you just have to look at the guys spending 000's to run a few seconds faster over the quarter mile!.....like you said, does'nt make sence but thats the way it is you need the twisties and a bit of skill to make a performance car count

Hi Rob, i had a 3 dr cossie 400bhp by Karl Norris NMS, and when i sold it i went to a Tommi Mak with Autronic anti- lag etc 378bhp that was, now i have a MY00 TYPE RA with only 330 bhp, and the RA beats them both to 120 believe it not but hits a brick wall at 130ish.

Like you`ve just said, my cossie would of starting reeling me in in both JAP cars about 120ish, the torque was awesome, it was peaking at 32psi third gear kick in the *** was mental, i miss it sometimes, but then when i get into a bit of fun with one now round the twisites i know why i`ve got this....

BBS split rims aswell, i miss it
