Default driveshaft roll pins

So just fitted my driveshafts again on my newage sti and realised that I havent lined up the holes properly, is it a must that the roll pins go in or is it something that can do without?

Due to the lengths of the stubs out of the box it would be a better idea to put them back in as they are there for an intended purpose
