My 94 WRX has a recurring Knock Sensor fault code causing a 'Check Engine Light' to some on and the performance to be reduced dramatically.

My understanding of the situation is that the knock sensor is sensing 'knock' (miss-firing) and adjusting the timing to suit, when it get to its limit it gives the fault.

I have changed the knock sensor for another second hand one and it gives the same results.

I noticed that the exhaust is blowing at the flexible joint just below the turbo - could this cause mis-firing??

Alternatively, has anybody had this problem and found faults with either the ignition system or the injectors??

This is an exasperating problem, I hope that someone out there has the answer!

I think if you have a blowing exhaust is can effect the o2 sensor readings...
