New Clutch at 30000 is this normal
#1
Our MY99 has done 31,000 miles and my dealer is telling me the clutch is on the way out. Is this normal milage for a clutch with just road use. If it does need doing is a std replacement ok or is there a better option.

Apparently it can be...Depends on your driving style.
Mind you, I've got an MY99 and I'm happily just over 40K miles with no clutch worries.
Had to have new brake discs/pads at 14K miles though!!!

Andy, how r u doing me old mucker???
I'll text you about Thursday.
30K is normal. Subaru will replace your original clutch assy with a P1 clutch assy as a matter of course nowadays 4 nigh on £550, £800 incl. flywheel if needed.
There are other clutch's out there but you would only want to go that route if you are running a modded car.
I think AP do uprated clutch assy which are as good if not slightly better than the P1 assy or you could go for a AP paddle clutch which are really town/traffic friendly
I have had a whisper about a Subaru OEM upgrade one which is still in development. This will replace the P1 assy completely and is supposedly going to eliminate clutch judder and early signs of slipping I'll speak to you Thursday!
Ta ta 4 now. Jacko
