I have always measured mpg (sad anorak I am ! ) and recently I have tried all threes ECUS on a MY00. They make interesting reading for MY00 owners who complain about poor fuel economy.
Same driving style and optimax fuel over the period and everything else on the car staying consistent.
AE802 38.00 days 242.00 litres 966 miles 18.15 mpg
AE801 15.00 days 148.00 litres 674 miles 20.70 mpg
AE800 30.00 days 188.00 litres 913 miles 22.08 mpg
Anybody else that has changed ECU or got a tek had similar results ?
Dave.

I have a tek2.
First week I got 17.8mpg
2nd week I got 21.4 mpg
3rd week I got 22.1mpg
It hasn't gone up much since, I think the best I got was about 24 and a bit.
Anyone wanna buy a tek2 I think I will save money with a standard ECU.

http://www.ecutek.co.uk/frame_tuning.html and click original ECU comparison. Then look at the fuel maps for the AE800-802 and note the zones where the earlier ones are leaner. It is mainly at high loads, so cruising fuelling should be similar.
I achieved 29 MPG on a Tek 3 on a 440 mile cruise at 85 MPH indicated yesterday. And I am putting more fuel in at high load low revs like the Tek 2 to improve spool up and low down torque as the original ECUs have a nasty lean spot there. If you in closed loop conditions (cruise) I can't see there being any difference. In reality even driving normally (depending on how you define it)there will be times where you are not at closed loop.

Nezz,
You are getting the same mpg ... you would be lucky to pick up a ae800 for the cost of getting the tek2. So the tek2 sounds better for you ?
