Default How common is a cracked flywheel ?

Getting my clutch changed on Friday and have been advised by the garage that 99% of the time the subaru flywheels are cracked and MUST be replaced. Is there any truth in this as I'm thinking its a load of bull.. My car is an 04 STi by the way

I have an 03 sti and have changed the clutch several times and never seen a cracked flywheel despite the 1/4's, sprints, hill climbs and track days. However, the flywheels have suffered in other ways due to the heat generated and high spots and distortion can occur along with uneven wear, all these things can reduce the life of a new clutch.
