Default possible clutch problem

Hi think ive got clutch problems but not sure any advice would be most welcome . The car is a 2001 bugeye wrx completely standard apart from cat back exhaust . The problem i have only happens when im in 3rd gear . Ill be in 3rd gear coming off a roundabout for example and ill floor it the car will be fine for a couple of seconds but then for some reason the revs will jump but the car stays at the same speed only lasts a second or two then its back to normal my first thought was clutch slipping . Am i right in thinking clutch slip or could this be something else ? .

thanks shane

I'd agree with you. It sounds like it's the clutch slipping but I'm no expert. Any idea how old the clutch is? They're known to wear out pretty easily on Scoobys.

put the car in a high gear i.e. fourth of fifth at about 40 m.p.h. on a flat straight road.
put your foot down, when the boost comes in if the revs rise too quickly the clutch is slipping.
flywheel is not the problem but when replacing the clutch get it skimmed or i can cause juddering.

clutch wear starts at the higher gears usually when the boost comes in and will gradually get worse.
