Question

I am planing to fit my new boost gauge this evening.

I have had a look at "chiarks boost gauge fitting page". His engine looks different to mine (MY97), the intercooler is in the same place (not on an angle like the earlier engines I have seen). But the ingintion leads conect up in the centre of the car not to the right like chiarks.

Below the bottom right lead there is a rubber bung with a flattened end. Is this where the gauge show be conected to?
I don't want to remove anything I should not.

Have other peolpe found it easy to conect there own gauges?

ANY advice would be great.

Thanks

Martyn

Martyn,

I did my own las weekend - and I'm crap at mechanics!

The pipe I t pieced was to one that come out of the manifold and goes to your standard recirc dump valve - attached to the intercooler - on the right hand side.

Apparently any pipe coming out of the inlet manifolf is ok to use though.

Cut the pipe - stick the t piece in and as a test I wired the hose into the back of the guage - out of the side of the bonnet in through the passenger window and went out with someoene to check it worked before wiring it in!

once it worked ok - find a grommet in the bulkhead and feed it through from there - it sounds quite daunting if you are as bad as I am at mechanics but it's actually quite easy!

Hope that helps

Chris

I'm in the same boat (MY97, crap at mechanics).

I got a boost gauge second hand off a friend who sold his car but had tyres northampton strip off all the "extras" before hand. He didn't fit it so he can't help.

Mines got 2 short elec wires (cut when it got taken out of my mates car) which I presume are for the back light of the boost gauge?
If thats all they're for I'm not that fussed about connecting that up. The only other thing it has is a clear tube which goes on the manifold as someone has said previously.

I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and give it a go (just worried about the elec wires though).
