I would have done a search, but it was disabled when I tried. So here it goes:

The 94-95 Australian WRXs had a Mits TD05-16G turbo stock. I'm interested in locating one and swapping in a 18g wheel. Its much cheaper than purchasing a VF series in the states.

So my questions are, what advantage do the VF series have over any modified TD05? Did the early UK WRXs have TD05s? If so, what was the overall trend for replacing them? How does a TD05w/18g compare to the VF30? Any other comments suggestions?

I just wanted to get a fresh perspective from an enthusiast group that would have much more experience in these matters.

In the US, at least to my knowledge, everyone is so determined to swap out the stock TD04s for VF 23s and 30s. On a very limited students budget, I just can afford to go that route.

The I-club guys were raving about the Forced Performance TD04 hybrid. One issue with the TD05 is that they have a 90 degree bend and do not fit straight on as a replacement for a TD04 without a **lot** of work. How about getting a VF24 off an old STi? That would fit a MY01/02 I believe. You can get them in the UK, but quality might be an issue unless you can find some history on the donor car.
