gear box probs
i have a v reg impreza my gear box has just packed in.my car is runing 320 bhp the gear box i have in that is broke is suposed to be good for upto 400bhp. im having truble finding the same code gearbox on ebay. would an sti gearbox be better or stick with the same code???? pls help

hi the gearbox fitted has to be compatible match diif ratio wise with the existing rear diff unless you fit a matched box and diff together.
what code is your existing gearbox ???
its torque rather than hp that kills boxes unfortunately.

gear box
the car is impreza turbo 2l the gear box that is in it is the normal gearbox the clutch has been uprated.the code for the gear box is ty754vn1aa. thanks

I don't know where you got the idea that this gearbox is good for 400bhp? But I've seen standard turbo's chew them up and that's half the power and torque
I would not want to push one of these boxes past 300lbs of torque tbh, though an sti box seems a good idea, you would require a rear diff and the gearing would be shorter than your UK box.
