This may seem like a stupid question but I've heard mixed reports about the Prodrive Performance Pack - is it worth the money?

PS. I have an MY00 with no mods.

Yes its worth the money it is also the only warrantied chip you can get, you get an exhaust, back box and sti resenator box where the second cat is and a nice bit of blue intercooler piping (plus the PPP ecu ) and unlike any other performance modification this one actually adds value to your car so is 1700 quid (if you shop round a little) worth it? yup

I bought my my97 because of it, dealer charged me £1000 over the price of an non-ppp car. Difference was noticable on the test drive...

Gordo,

No, you have to buy it as the complete pack. Unless, you manage to source one 2nd-hand like me

Get a full decat exhaust, panel filter and a dawes with a boost gauge.

Don't know figures yet but mines on the rollers next Saturday, goes like stink much much better than it went as standard.

Cool

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I am definitely going for it.

After that I'll probably go for a replacement downpipe and a new air filter - does anyone have any recommendations?

BTW Apologies to the Moderator - I'm new to this site!

Wuss.

Please try before you buy, you may think that you are getting £1700's worth of performance upgrade but I didn't feel what the fuss was about.

Tony may have a very good example as he is happy, but I really didn't feel much of an improvement.

John Banks has just sold his PPP to go TEK 3 IIRC, and I think he would have done this in preference if it was available a while ago.

If your nearby on Weds night
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=85724

There's plenty of us going for drink, food and chat in our own section of the pub. Most people there have mods from the Dawes device through to complete re-mapps & rebuilds.

Are you referring to info on the Tek3? If so, Ecutek

John sold his PPP to me and there's defintely a big improvement. Nothing like strapping a rocket to your car, but there's a lot more torque through all the gears.

One thing I noticed is the ability to overtake without dropping down a gear. That always really bugged me with the Impreza, but I can sit @ 70 on the motorway in 5th and easily pull out to overtake without worrying.

Is it worth £1700? well that debates been raging for years, but all I can say is I'm happy I never paid that kind of money for it.

The BIG benefit is you'll keep the warranty; any other mods and you can kiss it goodbye unless you have a willing Dealer.

Wuss,

A couple of points before you shell out some hard-earned dosh:-

1. John managed to get his PPP fitted by the Dealer on evaluation.

2. Just as a comparison, John Banks is now running a std MY99 ECU (my old one), Dawes device (19psi), ITG Filter, Catless Downpipe, PPP centre and PPP backbox on his MY00.

His car does feel a good bit quicker than mine (RB5, PPP ECU, PPP Centre, STI backbox & ITG Filter) and we've been down the same private roads in both cars to get a good feel for the difference.

Rather than raw power, I think what would impress me more is the ability of for our cars to go around the bends much faster.

If you're looking for something to help you get from A to B quicker, then the PPP might not be everything. Perhaps some suspension or wheel/tyre upgrades might get more out of the car and give you what you're looking for. IMHO, of course

tek2 = £500 & performance is same/better than PPP......I just swapped my my00 PPP ecu (running 1.2 bar via MBC) for a tek2 also with the MBC. Too early to say for sure - but feels smoother. Need to log some more performance data via DeltaDash to be certain.
