Default Are all R180 diffs the same

May need to replace my rear diff on v5 type r import, can any one tell me if a r180 is wot i need and are they all the same...... And does any one have one for sale or know where i can get one... W. Sussex....... Thank you

No they are not all the same.

The R180 is the size you then have different ratios.

The Type R and other R180 equipped Classics run a 4.444 ratio
The newage JDM STI runs a 3.9 Ratio
The UK STI run a 3.54

You have to run the diff that has the same ratio as your gearbox final drive ratio.

So if you want to replace the diff on your type r without changing the gearbox you'll have to find an R180 with a 4.44 ratio.

Ok thanks daz,the reason trying source new diff coz got clicking sound from rear, on and off accelator and bit ratterly and clonk when prop begins to spin, can also do it by hand when u twist the prop....... Any ideas

check the uj joint in the prop first mate, sound like it may be that.

Thanks jay it does sound like that, coz the diff sounds ok, i thought it could be a u j off some sort, do u know if its a hard job

sorry to but in on this thread but!,
if the The UK STI run a 3.54 how many teeth does it have on the crown wheel??
i know like you said the type r is 4.444 and has 40 teeth on the crown wheel.
