Question

Well, it looks like my baby is due it's first MOT in July (might be June) but I have a potential problem on my hands...

Listers Motorsport in Worcester sold the car with a decat exhaust and there is no way it will pass on emissions. What makes matters worse is that I haven't got a decat downpipe (have got a mid section).

So, what do you reckon is the best thing to do?

Does anyone know of a 'friendly' MOT place? (the car is perfect for everything but emissions)

ta,
Matt.

As far as I understand, if you've still got the centre cat in there take the car for a hard thrash before getting it tested and this should warm the cat up to a point where it works well. As long as the car is running properly it should pass the test!
If your still worried I'm sure someone on here has a downpipe you could borrow and get fitted just for the test!

Hi there,

Don't know where you're from but I have a catted downpipe in my garage for an MY98 Scooby that might help you out if you're interested.

Forgot to add, you can have it if you can collect. I'm based near Southampton but working from Bracknell all next week. Also have a track day booked in Colverne and a RR in Cheltenham over the next couple of months.

It's gathering dust here and is never gonna fit my Type-R!

Mine failed it's first MOT. Changing the downpipe is a real pain - probably an hour or so then the same to change it back.

I bought a PE catted centre which was expensive at just over £400, but the car is now legal & I can't tell the difference

Len at Subaru 4 You has just made up a twin cat centre which you can hire from him, he will fit for a nominal fee, trundle off to the MOT, pass easily take car back and swap over again. Easy

Edit to add - based near Thatcham, Berks.

mattski2. What is your Scooby? Mine was sold to Listers last November. It was a green MY98 5 door with full de-cat exhaust. I left the original centre in the boot but forgot the downpipe which is how come I finished up with it in my garage!!

Wasn't mine you bought was it?
