auto gearbox on an astra
Hi all been having some right dramas with the wifes 06 astra think the gearbox is fooked. It shifts all the way up but then wont shift down and gets a spanner light on the dash but it will shift down manually.
There is no whinning or grinding sounds the mechanic that looked at it says it may have coolent in the gearbox, apparently astra and vectra are know for this. He reckons its a new box job any 1 had this issue before or know a specialist in cambridge area cheers all

Mk 5 Automatic gearbox stuck in 4th gear!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all, my 56 plate astra Automatic will not shift out of 4th. It had a coolant leak into the 'box from the radiator now replaced and new fluid etc and the gears can be changed by shifting the lever manually but once it gets up to 4th it wont change up automatically. . .
As well as a new radiator and gearbox fluid change have had the fluid level sensor changed. £450 spent already and my mechanic is sniffing big bucks I think lol.
