Very high pitched 'EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!' with the usual 'psshsh'. Noisy. Have one, or rather had. Apparently, it sounded like a bus. Was ordered to remove it

Just fitted one to my Evo yesterday and love it..... Not really noticeable under 'normal' driving, which I prefer, but as soon as you nail the accelerator and let off the gas, a flutter of 'whoooosssshhhhh' is released which, when on full boost is LOUD!!! Excellent.....

Depends.
Not very helpful, am I?
If you just gently release your foot, you get a gentle pshhh; if you take your foot off suddenly, you get a loud eeeeee with the psshhhhh and quite possible a pop or two as well! For general motorway stuff, it doesn't make much difference. It's all back road stuff (well, high/abrupt changes in boost leads to louder noises, I suppose!)

The noise the dump valve makes is very dependant on the air filter too (if its re-circulating). Standard airbox you dont hear much, with a K&N cone you hear plenty! Take out the blanking plate on the bonnet grill and its even louder!, Not good if it rains though (filter gets a bit wet).
