Default 6 Speed box into MY98 V4 Type R?

Just after a quick bit of advice. What 6 speed gearbox is best to fit and exactly what parts would I need to do a 6 Speed conversion on a MY98 V4 Type R?

JDM dccd 6 speed, you will need the box, linkage, rear r180 3.9 diff, prop from an auto impreza and the 6 speed starter motor.

Do I not have an R180 3.9 diff as standard anyway or am I wrong in thinking this? I'm just trying to suss what exactly I need to purchase. What's the gearbox code for a JDM dccd 6 Speed?

Ah right. Cheers Banny will look into it a bit more now just want to get a heads up before I start screwing anymore power as I doubt the standard box will take much more than I have now. Am I right in thinking the DCCD thumb wheel I have will work fine with the JDM dccd 6 Speed then?

Yes the factory dccd stuff will work fine with the 6 speed box, it is what I am running in my car. The dccd diff is the centre diff not the rear diff

Just to confirm what age of auto impreza would the prop need to come from, similar to the age the box comes from or the car its going into?

I'm slightly confused now then so I don't have to get the prop from an auto an could use the one from the JDM 6 speed donor car without any problems?

The new age prop into a GC8 shape car is wrong, as the centre support is more off centre in the tunnel on the new models. It'll fit a GC8 but will put a dog leg in the driveline which can be a problem and may cause vibrations. Auto GC8 to GC8 is best.

Perfect cheers for the info David I'd imagine these are fairly easy to get hold of although not sure how easy it is to get a 6 speed dccd jdm box.

I must have it wrong then as mine is smooth as silk no vibrations apologies Using the STi hubs is pretty handy though as any Brembo conversion is bolt on

Not quite; It'll take the gold Brembos, but not the black ones from the 08 hatches, which are quite a bit larger than the gold ones and have a different pitch for the fixing bolts.

Guess I will find out next month. LOL
