#1
I am fitting a knocklink tomorrow
It has 2 green , 2 yellow and 1 white light
How should it operate , what is normal in terms of illumination and what is bad. No real explanation provided with the kit
Help needed
Thanks

Lumby, no lights is good. Some of us run to sometimes have a green light showing, but not much after that.
One quick way to check that is it working, is to get someone to sit inside the car, and another person to tap the engine with a hammer, and see how many lights come up.

Lumby,I have a slightly 'noisey'engine and so often get one green light. This has been checked with det cans to be innocent. The white light you talk of will actually shine red.If you get up to the amber lights back of the throttle and consider why you might be detting ie inferior fuel etc etc. There are a number of positions where the mike can go make sure you fit it in the most appropriate place(I d'ont know where that is though!!)

I have mine at max sensitivity, mounted on the manifold (i know, too much trouble to remove the intercooler. i'll mount it properly the next time it comes off) MY01 STI RA. 19000kms.
Sometimes on WOT, I get no lights; sometimes I get 2 greens and a very occasional single flashing amber. After asking around here (amongst other places), I've concluded that the KL is setup to work this way. As long as you've got greens its ok. If the big red light comes on then its very NOT ok.
Point to note, forged pistons tend to be "noisier" than std cast pistons. I don't know why - can anyone hazard an explanation? Therefore if you're using a KL on an STI, you're likely to see a little more noise on the LED's.
Hope this helps.
