Default Is it possible to fit a TY754 casing to a TY752 STI RA box?

Hello, i bought a STI Type RA DCCD gearbox with plated rear R160 diff etc a few months ago, its a old box with the flexier TY752 casing, its from a 1995 car.

I have searched about this and found one topic about and the answer was yes, however that question involved changing all the gears inside the box to straight cut ones.

So i want to know it it is possible to only change the casing to the TY754, and still retaining the original gearing, input shafts, selector forks etc? The rear centerdiff casing looks to have the same bolt pattern on both the boxes so i guess that is'nt a problem?

While im at it (in the future), is it something else inside the gearbox witch is good to replace after approxemitly 100,000km/62,000miles? I have not driven the box ever so i dont know what condition it is in, is it a good idea to replace syncros, bearings etc or is it a waste of money?

But the main question is if the TY754 case fits straigt over to the TY752 box.

No you cant mix and match 752 and 754 cases and shafts. You can however bolt your 752 DCCD transfer case etc onto a 754 box biy you will need to be carefull with the ratios and drop gear ratios's to ensure you match up the rear diff.

Thnaks for the reply, so you will need to change both the input and output shafts to then? Do the old 752 gears fit on 754 shafts or can i just forget about this idea?

Oskar, There is a mod that you can do that will strengthen the TY752 case and make it stronger for handling better power.

Let me have an email address for you and l'll mail you how to do it.

I promise it works.

I will not post it up on the forum, stuff like that takes a bit of research and we like to earn our money by selling theses tricks and tweaks.

As you are in Sweden you are unlikely to send us the box for modifying, so l'll tell you how to get it done over there.

Good luck David APi

David without giving the exact details away can you expand on this?

How much work is involved? Does it make it as strong as a TY754?
