Blitz Induction Filter - Fitting?
Hi all
I have a Blitz induction filter on order and wanted to know if there is any thing I should know before I fit it.
Does the filter come with specific instructions to fit it to an Impreza? Is there any damage I can do to the MAF sensor whilst fitting?
Advice needed please!
Regards,
Twobeers

"Is there any damage I can do to the MAF sensor whilst fitting?" yes dropping it won't be appreciated. If you have a MY99/00 some would say that your main risk of MAF failure is AFTER fitting it because of poor filtration and/or vibration. You also risk a lean spot during spool up with consequent loss of torque.
John,
Is there anything that can be done to eliminate this problem on spool up as I have toyed with one of these items but, hung fire through lack of knowlege on their performance gains and problems they could cause in both the short and long term usage.

Add more fuel a la www.ecutek.com and get rid of the MAF based fuelling by going for an aftermarket ECU. Seems a bit drastic to sort an induction kits problems out though?
lol @ John
bit extreeme
What MY is the car? UK or MRX?
pre facelift ones (with abs) cant have a blitz straight on (unless I missed something). I had to buy a Piper X kit too and just fit the pipe.
97-98 its a peice of cake just bolts on using the bits off ur old airbox.
99-> (Phase 2 engine IIRC) as John says.. these have a much more fragile maf sensor and its not recomended (Bit late if its winging its way to you
).

The car is a standard MY94 Turbo. Will I still need that Piper X kit? If so, I may cancel the order if it's gonna cost me more and the performance increase isn't worth it...
Thanks to everyone else for their advice too...

If yours looks like that its the abs (thats the block with all the little metal pipes comin out) that gets in the way.. I almost burst into tears
I managed to pick the induction kit up for £60 and bought the Blitz for £80 off here.
Performance increase? can't really comment too much as I had the downpipe and bb at a very similar time but it does seem increase top end power.
noise increase *MASSIVE* I didn't really expect the difference you can really hear the DV go now (everyone thinks I've got an aftermarket to air DV now
) and it sucking when your pressing on. I have kinda got used to the extra noise now.... Still think about taking it off and seeing the difference though

Thanks for the pics... I was looking for some exactly like yours to see how the filter fits in, so they will really help. I need to get the Piper X kit then?
Thanks for the offer to pop in to Reading. I don't live a million miles away, so if it's a nice sunny day ( ;P) can I pop by and have a chat about the Blitz before I fit it?
I'll drop you a mail...
