What is everyones opinion on the Link ECU, I ask as I have a customer in NZ that can get the ECU, knock sensor, hand held tuning unit, basic map, and fitting kit for around £600. I seem to remember them being a lot more over here, so I may look at getting him to send me one over, according to him, they are easy to tune using a dyno, and the knocklink will show me if i am messing up! Is this a good idea???
Alternatively, if he was to send it over, is there anywhere that I could get this fitted, I seem to remember the name bob rawle???

EcuTek even cheaper with same results !.
Dont map it yourself, speak to Andy Tang at BRD (Bob Rawles company) he will give you good honest advice..

Lordlucan,'Ecutek same results but much cheaper'.Has this consistently been shown,ie are there cars out there running the Ecutek that produce the same sort of safe results that the Link has done time and time again?
ps I'm asking for my own knowledge,not trying to be arsey.

Yes m8, speak to Stephen Done, the Scooby ECU is a much more complex unit than a Link and can do far more, now it can be mapped its the way forward, 3mths ago link was the king. Can a Link retard ignition if you fill up with bad fuel ?

268bhp for 150 quid !!!although the TEK2 brings the torque to about the same. From my knowledge my00 cars with a Link are running the about the same unless they have more mods.

err, YES the link can retard ignition if selected
Bottom line is, PPP, boost controllers, dawes device, TEK2 vast BHP/Torque improvements if none or little mods.
Link more suited to serious modders, MoteC/Pectel even more serious modders!!!

Cat - check www.ecutek.com

Jase

A well happy customer...

Norm - nice one, shame the Link hasnt got a 32-bit RISC processor running at 20MHz and millions of pounds of development work by Subaru, can it adjust to atmospheric conditions if selected ????!!!!

LordLucan, no harm intended but...can I suggest you gather the facts before stating untruths
Mappable/RE-mapped ECU's all do the same thing. Each have their own idiosyncrasies and some will allow modders to go further without any further financial outlay.
PPP and TEK1/2 direct swap ECU's are good for what they are apart from the PPP price tag
Just to reiterate for the benefit of the original thread starter......if you are intending on heavily modding the car, i.e. different turbo, FMIC, ported headers etc etc, you will get more bang for your buck when using either a Link, MoteC or Pectel. Link being the cheapest of the 3, Motec and Pectel being the best but their is little knowledge on how to map a Pectel for a Scooby.
BRDevelopments are the chaps I would see about Link & MoteC.

Norm.

Which one have you got then the Tek1?
What is it a plug in chip to replace the original?

Mega-stream

I have the Tek1 driveability upgrade, my existing ECU was re-programmed, b4 and after runs were done the same day. A Tek2 would bring the torque to about the same. The nice touch is its warranty and insurance friendly, well unless you tell em !!

Mark Khan has been running the Tek2 for a bit, on and off track, and we all know how hard Mark drives, im waiting to get a thrashing at the Ring in May, then I will upgrafe to a Tek2 !!!!

Well worth the cash given the cost of alternatives, but as Norm says if you are planning different turbos etc then consider alternatives.

Thumbs up

Cheers for the info, Might well have a go at that

I'm going to PE for a RR session on 4th May so I'll see what my car is doing with the dawes/full decat and decide from there.

What date you going to the ring, a mate from works going down 1st week in May I think.

Norm - no untruths mate !!! the link is 16bit when the JECS is 32bit.

PPP = £1500
TEK2 = £625
TEK1 = £150

Bit of a difference !!
Have a good w/e.
Jase
