Question BUGEYE REAR DIFF QUESTION

Changed the diff oil at the weekend and notice alot of metal stuck to the drain plug... so i put fresh oil in and seen how it goes...

tho in the near future i guess will need a diff

will a rear diff of a newer wrx fit? mines uk300 wrx, 5 speed 2001, so will and wrx/ 5 speed rear diff fit, ie blobeye, hawk eye etc? 2003, 04, 05 etc?

cheers

Be careful, I'm sure that hawkeyes are different, but before should be o.k.

I think...

found quite alot of metal stuck to the drain plug when changed the oil last weekend, tho drives fine and no funny noises, just keeping my eye out for one and wonder which fit??
searched on here and not really found anything helpfull.....

asuming wrx's are all same long as 5 speed....

prob cheaper to just chuck another diff on than a refurb, plus car be off road for a while...

From memory I think the UK 300's had the TY754VN4AA box, check the code and if it is or even VN2AA or VN5AA then it is a 3.54 R160 diff that you will need which all UK blobeye wrx's are and pretty sure, but not certain, that all uk bugeye wrx's should also be.

No codes on the diff you need to remove the cover and count the teeth on the crown wheel and pinion and then divide them or if you can see it the info is also stamped onto the side of the crown wheel either way if you want to be 100% sure you need to open up the diff but to be honest if you know the history of the car and are sure the gearbox has not been messed with then you can use the gearbox code to work out what rear diff is fitted.

I have a diff if you require it. I upgraded to a 6 speed set up. PM if required.
