Centre Diff Upgrade options??
I've just had the centre diff in my non DCCD box explode on me.. I didnt realise when i bought it that the non DCCD boxes had viscous diffs as I never would have bought it if i did...
I wanted to upgrade to a plated diff, was recommended Kaaz as the best value for money but as it turns out, I was on to driftworks and they have no listing for a centre diff for a 6 speed (only front and rear).. I'm wondering are there any other options available or places you'd recommend.. Really don't want to put a standard viscous diff back in...
Would really appreciate any advice..

Yes mate, correct rear diff is fitted.. Box is highish mileage, tracked a few times, and driven hard most of the time on the road also...
Do you know if it can be upgraded?

Still shouldn't explode on you, but anyway...
You can get higher rated viscous diffs are per grp N rally spec and plated as you say, but the easiest (and its a kind of a plated anyway) is the 5 speed dccd centre diff- it just drops in instead of the viscous, if you change the transfer box to retain your current drop gear split.
If you change the centre diff with the transfer box still bolted on the back then you need to make sure you have the right rear diff as dccd transfer box is 1:1. STis and p1s run 1:1 and have matching front and rear diffs, most others run 1.1:1.
If unwired you'd have a more rwd biased car, and if you put a neetronics on then you have the option to play about with the lock

Thanks for the advice .. I suppose explode is maybe a bit too strong, I was flat in fourth when I heard and felt it pop so I backed off and nursed it home... It was then knocking when turning and within 100miles from there, it had completely collapsed and there was no drive from the car..
Could you tell me where i could find out more info or who sells these uprated diffs?

For sale section?... David O Brien at API Engines stocks loads of diffs and knows more than most about sorting out replacements - give him a call.
Odd symptoms - not typical of viscous- more likely something mechanical.
