Default Diff Bearing Broken - Drivable?

Hey guys - posted this in the general section originally but as it is diff related i've linked it from here.

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...k-bearing.html

The stealers told me a bearing in the rear diff is shot - hence the grinding noise I have been experiencing.

Is this normal on an 11k car? Should I be worried about previous abuse?

Any idea whether I can still drive the car at the moment without any ill effects? (awaiting it to be booked in to the garage atm)

Cheers

Jon.
