Question

For all the hundreds of postings I've read about tuning scoobies I've haven't heard any chat about upgrading the gearbox. Am I to assume the gearbox can handle significant increases in engine power and torque without any problems?

The big power guys definitely get through gearboxes a bit, mainly down to torque - the standard one is reckoned by Subaru to be ok up to about 270-300lbft of torque. Beyond that and you're pushing it...

bitten hero is correct.

If you wanna talk gearboxes, have a word with pat. he is on his fourth I think which is now a straight cut dog box, so further increases should be fine!

Cheers. That kinda torque should be enough to handle any mods I could afford to make.
