Default How to remove rear diff?

Hi

I'm wondering what the easiest way is to remove the rear diff? I have a STI Type R V5. Do you need to loosen the hubs so that you can pull the driveshafts out of the diff?

Many thanks

You can leave the wheels and hubs as they are. With the prop disconnected get the back end of the car up to a nice height. As you look at the diff from the back there are 2studs going through the subframe with nuts on them. Rather than remove the nuts take the studs out, this will make it hell of a lot easier.
When you have the mountings off, lower the diff a touch.
By turning the diff on an angle and a bit of wiggling it is possible to pop a shaft out, then the other one will be easier again.

Only took an hour to change mine, it's not that bad a job.

Thanks it was quite easy, only removing the studs took a while. However I released the hub on the other side, it was a bit easier to get the driveshafts out that way.
