Just wondering if anyone here as done the job of splitting the crankcases to replace bottom end bolts? If so what kind of a job was it and what problems were encountered? I have done lots of other work on different engines , but have never dived much into the bottom end.......

Yes, I have disassembled an EJ22, which involved spliting the crankcase. It was fairly straightforward stuff, just take your time and be sure to check you get all the crankcase bolts.

cheers for that ..... Are you in the trade or do you just do it for a hobby and work on your own cars etc? I have done alot of my own work but never anything as drastic as opening the bottom end just wondered what I was in for.
