Default Gearbox woes

had a refurbed gearbox fitted a couple of weeks ago and was not happy with the work done. Picked car up and gear stick was flopping about like it hadn't been reconnected properly. Drove it away from the garage and as i lifted off accelerator in first gear at a junction and there was a terrible whining noise on overrun. I dipped the clutch and the whining was still there and its only in first gear rest of the gears are fine just first.

Took it back and the Subaru Specialist who fitted the new box and he said there is a problem with the box and nothing to do with fitting it. Just want to be sure as i am a bit peed off a bout it now

anyone any ideas?

well im having the same problem with the floppy gearstick, its caused by not having a spring fitted to centre it. i just need to find out where it goes, lol.

Sounds like its shagged mate.

Thats the reason I'm getting mine rebuilt a bad whine in first after a few drag starts, the suspicion is that I've either pulled the teeth on 1st gear or lost some teeth.
