Gearbox & Clutch options for 340+
Firstly apologies but been a bit out of touch with drivetrain developments over recent years.
I am currently running 335BHP/310ftlb in a 2000 UK and am soon to upgrade the turbo.
The reason for upgrade is not for extra power but due to the VF28 being on the ragged edge, I want a unit that is working more within it's tolerance.
However, the desire for more power is due to some at some point so would like to way up a few options.
I have driven a 380BHP Impreza with an Exceedy clutch, but this was a few years back so do not know the spec of it.
It drove very nice so would be something I would consider, but would need to know the best most OE feel clutch for 350-380BHP.
Any guidance on Clutch selection appreciated.
The same car had an STi 5 typeRA box with UK drop gear and 5th gear. this at the time was supposed to be quite a good solution.
I do not want to go 6-speed as they are still too expensive IMHO for a standard box, extra hassle to fit and I do not like all the cog swapping/additional gear changing when driving.
I also do not want to go dog box or PPG etc...
So what are my 5-Speed options ?
Many thanks......

in a word none. if you want a 5 speed box then you are limiting your self with the amount of power you can use reliably. your current power is about the limit for a 5 speed if you want any sort of reliability. yes a uk 6 speed is expensive but really the only way to handle the power you are looking for IMHO.
there are numerous threads on the strength of 5 speeder and the robustness of a six speed box.
Take a look at this thread
