Mine came tooled up, but it really does depend on the main use for the car.

A really stiff front diff will cause understeer, at the rear it will cause oversteer. In the middle it will be better on gravel ? ? ?

You may need to ask Zen or a transmission specialist the best options, I think that a Quaife ATB would suit the front and a good old (up-rated) plated diff at the rear.

Then there is DCCD for the centre....

Get hold of Rally Colin, he modifies and fits the 6 speed front atb's into the classic.

Its on the list of things to do to mine as i spin the inside front wheel. Stiffer roll bars make it worse!

I would do the front before swapping out the std rear viscous lsd, as it seems pretty good for now.

All Impreza turbo's come with at least a centre and rear LSD, all be it (on UK turbo and WRX's) fairly soft VC's, before you start making changes you need to understand what your problem is and what you want from them.

Essentially an LSD reduces wheelspin and increases traction, generally at the expence of handling, despite what dunx says, most LSD's tend to make a car go straight on as they resist the natural requiremnt for the outer wheel to travel further than the inner and the rear to travel less distance than the front as well, the exception to that is the suretrac used on the later Sti's which is fairly inoquous in operation until wheelspin occurs and less of an effect on handling.

So much like picking turbo's, its not a question of right/wrong but right or wrong for YOU, your car (suspension settings interact with what you want) and your usage.

Mine was evil when new, (front one), after some mileage it "calmed down" a fair bit !
