Question

I am planning on fitting a full de-cat exhaust in the very near future. The question is, do I need to budget/arrange for a tune up (rolling road or otherwise) after fitting, or can I just put it on, and away I go..?

If tuning IS needed, would just fitting a backbox and possibly de-cat centre (i.e. no downpipe) still require tuning?

There seems to a constant flow of interest in exhaust questions in here, but I couldn't find a thread to the above effect anywhere, hence sorry if this has all been asked before....

(Even I'm getting p***ed off with search being down, and I've only been coming on here a week... )

Owen,

the standard ECU will cope with the change in exhaust. The only time you would require a 'tune' would be if you had a different ECU (ie Link, Motech etc.) that could be re-mapped to fully utilise the benefits of the new exhaust.

Presumably if you're in Boston, you have one of the new scoobs? If so, this doesn't help, but if you have the 'classic' () shape, resetting the ECU might help. The ECU then sorts itself out (learns the new system - or as much as it is able to anyway ). The new shape's ECU constantly adapts anyway so this isn't needed.

The ECU can handle a performance exhaust & D/P no problem.

Thanks for the replys......little bit less expense

And yes, I do live in Boston, Lincs. But it's an easy enough mistake to make....I hadn't heard of it until I moved here
