Hi, just a question about gearbox oil level. I've read that it's good practice to have the oil level at it's max, is this true? Mines mid way between lo/hi. Only reason i ask is my box seems to be getting a little notchy, and crunches a little sometimes going into first/reverse. I was going to do a box and diff oil change, but the box oil looks new. I've had the car 18months, first owner from japan, so should do it really.
Thanks, Mit

Yeah it is fine for that, best place to look for anything 'oil' is here
Opie Oils for engine oil, car oil, motorbike oil, gear oil, motor oil, race oil, brake fluid
The best advice and prices anyway, and through them you get offers all the time.

Thanks for the input guys.
I can get the syntrax from halfords, for £1 a bottle more than Opie, and as the postage from Opie is £7 for 5 bottles, i'll be saving £2 with Halfords. I also have a halfords trade card, so should save a few more quid.
I'll be doing it this week, i'll let you know how it goes.

Wow!
Who would have thought changing the oil would make such a difference!
I put the Castrol Syntrax Universal in yesterday, took the car out today and its like a new box! It shifts much smoother, no notchiness(if thats even a word!), goes into all gears perfectly.
Also, there's much less vibration, most noticeable on the motorway at 70, it's much nicer to drive.
Guy(oilman), sorry i never rang for a price on the oil,(which i'm sure would have been a good one) i was getting some paint at Halfords anyway, so it was easier just to buy it there, also as said, i have a trade card, so got £3 a bottle off.
