Swapping TY752 box for a TY754
Could anybody tell me how much stronger the latter TY754 box is compared to the earlier TY752 box. Is the TY754 box a straight swap for the TY752 box?

Done the same on mine, although since breaking 3rd I`m going back lol.
Right you change the box, gear linkage, and rear diff.
The speed sensor needs swapping, electrical ones are worth flogging on Ebay if you don`t need it.
Then the bolt holes are all ok bar one for the starter, where you can either tap a thread into the box, or some other way that you may find.
Apart from that its straight forwards, don`t think I have forgotten anything.

752 is an earlier box than 754
the 752 is a 4 hole fitting 754 is 8 hole they can be swaped wit a bit of messing about
what to watch is the vb and vn codes ie ty754vn1aa and ty752vb1naa have different final drives so you must change rear diffs

I am looking at buying a 754 gearbox off a SN member this weekend and fitting it to my97 uk turbo which is currently a 752. It will be the gearbox and the diff bought as a matching pair.
I appreciate the above posts but can anybody further this with some better guidence on the matter as i dont want to folk out good money on a job that could be far easier swapping like for like.
Any how to guides and what equipment is required would be great.
thanks in advance

The starter is a slight issue where you have a stud on the 752 and the 754 doesn't, so either use one bolt (sketchy), or tap a thread.
The linkage you'll need as the 752/754 are NOT interchangeable.
The extra mounting holes aren't needed so don`t worry.
Rest is a straight swap, no issues.

Straight swap.

Hey can anyone help me please. Im looking at my new rear diff that came with the new box and wondering if there is any nasties i should prepare for when changing it over. (different driveshafts etc) Im stock piling parts so i can do a lot of the smaller jobs while the car is off the road.
As always your help is greatly apreciated

Holy thread resurrection! Is the general consensus that you must use the 754 box's gear linkage when upgrading from the 752? I've just had a 754 box put in my semi facelift '97 UK turbo and have the gear linkage from my old box in place and can select all gears successfully albeit reverse is a bit awkward to engage. The box hasn't been filled with oil yet though (obviously the car is not running yet) so I'm hoping it'll feel smooth when that is completed!

Fitting a 754 box to an engine that used to have a 752 is of no advantage, yes the 754 is meant to be stronger but this is only the casing, the 754 uses 8 mounting bolts instead of 4, yet to an earlier car you can only still use 4 mounting holes so the theory of a stronger case does not work on an old engine
