Oil temp sensor placement

Hi
I have heard you can place the sensor above one of the cylinders, has anyone done this? What kinda fitting is it? Have you got a pic of where the plug is?
Cheers
Ian

Ninja,
I too am interested in this alternative location, could you please clarify:
Is there currently a (brass-like) blanking plug above no.3 cylinder which can be replaced by a 1/8"npt oil temp sender?
Do you (or anyone else) have first hand experience of taking oil temperature readings from this location?
