Hi all, need help, had my engine rebuilt and replaced ,but now when i put it into drive(autobox) it stays in 1st gear and wont shift into 2nd let alone 3rd or 4th(drive).car was stood up for 8 months whilst engine was being rebuilt,changed the transmission fluid but still the same,any body have any ideas what the problem could be,thanks.

 

Is it a 3 or 4 speed transmission and what year is it.
If your sure the torque convertor has been located properly into the front housing/pump and the fluid level is correct, it might be worth checking the Throttle Sensor/Idle Switch seeing as the engine has been out/rebuilt.
The switch affects Line Pressure,Lock Up and Shift on the 4EAT transmission.

Thanks for the reply,its a 4 speed,year is 94,fluid level is correct,the TC wasent removed when engine was taken out,but the TB was replaced with a my98 TB,along with the thottle position sensor,
