Up to 400bhp but torque wise anything over 350lb/ft and you are pushing your luck with either casing.

As Banny has said providing you don't slam it into gear you should be ok up to 350ft lbs. Anything over that is built 5 speed or 6 speed territory.

Fatigue plays a big part too, I stripped 3rd with less than 300/300.

No warning either........

all im lookin at at the moment is the options of the 2.0 and 2.5 dependent on my budget, i would like the 2.5 but with a baby on the way i cant go starting something which i may not be able to afford to finish, plus i like the 2.0 as well as the cdb is easier to get hold of and stronger than the open deck 2.5 which are roughly the same price.

how much to close ratio 5 speeds normally go, i know a 6 speed will go for around 1800 quid.

do you mean a standard one or a built one? the 2.5 will more than likley push the standard on past breaking point due to the torque

if i went the 2.5 route i would be fittin a 6 speed no doubt but if i go the 2.0 route i wont be pushing it as hard so thus why im asking the limits of a close ratio box 5 speed as i could save myself money on that and spend on things like suspension but if it would be better for me in the long run to fit the 6 speed then i will have to as such

ahh i get ya, 2.5 needs box, 2.0, unless you push it above that figure should be ok, but its gonna be near the limit and one missed gear might be all it needs.

personaly, if you can afford it then go for the 2.5 and box

I've run 450bhp/380ftlb torque on a 5 speed. Now have 6 speed, but 5 speed was still fine - don't do drags or traffic light gps however.

well im not the type of person to skimp on things i would rather save a bit harder and not have to buy a 5 speed and then a 6 speed when that breaks. plus the 6 speed is close ratio, i do want a 2.5 bottom end but i know what im like and will end up spending double the amount on it, suppose it depends on where i set my eyes power/torque figure wise really.
