Default gear box problem

well pepole i had my first problem with my scooby today was driving home from a mates pulled off at the lights at about 4.5k rpm there just heard a loud grinding sound thinking it poped out of gear but it hadnt and think its jammed it self in gear as u have to keep the cluch pressed down to start the car and keep it pressed other wise it tryed to jult forward even if its out of gear any info would be great thanks

Sounds like gear lever has popped out of selector leaving you with a stick full of neutrals and still in gear. Have not had it on a subaru but have had it on an old antique tractor and mk3 cortina come to think of it. Solution was to take gear gaitor off and try and put the ball on end of lever back into selector slot. Usually happens when a bit of wear and tear is evident. Lots of dropping the clutch at high revs might be considered to be a wee bit hard on components.

a common problem is the 1st and 2nd selector fork snap. Sound like this to me.
