Need Lower gearing
hi
I am in need of some help,
i have recently started competing on road rallies in my impreza sport and have found that the gearing seems to be too high. Also a slippy diff in the back would be a great help.
obviously i cant change just the rear diff so would i just need to replace the front diff with one that matches the rear, or would the gearbox require changing.
what about changing the front crown wheel and pinnion.
any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks
DEAN

Ideally you will want a gearbox off a JDM WRX I think, that has 4.111 FDR and matching LSD, or for more extreme a Forester (JDM or EU) is 4.444:1.
Remember that some Subaru's (mostly EU, not JDM) have mismatched front and rear diff ratios and a transfer gear, e.g. UK turbo Imprezas have a 3.9FDR in the trasnmission and 3.5in the rear diff, but the output from the rear of the transmission has a 1.1:1 drop gear ratio, its its overall FDR is 3.9:1 even though the rear diff is a 3.5:1!
