Look back through Drivetrain over a few weeks and you will find a post of mine discussing Blitz Nur Spec backbox and the effect on boost.
Some of this you have to help yourself to m8

Everyone here is helpful mate... just you are asking a fairly specific question... alot of us have different exhausts..
there is no newbie problems that I am aware of and I try and help or add a comment so it returns to the top so someone else might help if I see a post with no replies.
Search is down but if you change the number of days to display posts at the top right and press 'go' and then look through the pages of posts until you find an exhaust subject in Drivetrain you might find what tyou are after.
Also not that the forums which are not the General Forum (number 1) sometimes a little slow with replies as people looknig in general first.
Hope that helps

Dan,
Chill out m8
You posted this at midnight this morning and by 10am you are complaining no-one's answered your question - most of us do sleep after midnight and then have a day job to keep the Scoob on the road.......
I usually give it a day or so before putting it back to the top and asking again......
BTW - I'm afraid I can't help you with your query 'cos I don't know anything about the products in question......(this time)
Matt

Depends what you want!
If you want low down power and torqu#e then go for a 2.5 inch system - say the Scoobysport full system
If you want peak power at the expense of some low down torque then go for a 3inch system
The best combination on the market is the specially made Scoobysport 3 inch downpipe mated to a 3inch HKS hiper centre and backbox
A few of us with a modded engines have this
I used to have the BPM system - too loud for me (it does not have any resonance plate, that the HKS has and therefore the car vibrates to bits!), I was also told that the downpipe was restrictive due to poorer design than Scoobysport. I'm not entirely convinced that the difference would have been noticeable on the road.....
Dont know Blitz at all - but have not heard anyone rave about it at all

From a cost perspective the intercooler and turbo route would be too expensive and the answer to your question is a definite No
For low down power on turbo's you need a small one, if you want power you go for a bigger one - but equals lots of lag
You are talking circa £2.5-3k fitted to sort the intercooler and turbo unless you opt for second hand
The intercooler just helps you keep the power, you would normally lose from the hot temps - i.e the intercooler is there to reduce charge temps to reduce engine det - you can increase ignition advance = more power but not necessarily low down torque
For that you need to mess with compression ratios and cylinder capacity - not really a viable route to take
Mail me off line - as I'm liable to upset someone... I always seem to..

please keep this here as this could turn into a good thread.scoobynet is about your views and if folk do not agree with you let them explain why.I agree with what has been said about 3" systems as I fitted a mongoose to a MY98 and it knackered the car low down, but made it pull very strong higher up.

400bhp will be QUITE an undertaking... if you look at the dyno pages and see what mods have been done then 350bhp might be a more reasonable target, which I think Steve McCulloch is at or above. It really depends on how much you want to spend.
CraigH has an incredibly fast STi - I think he said his power doubled over a 500rpm range during spool up

I think his car gets to 100mph in under 10s IIRC. Std STi with short ratio gears is 12-13. Std UK turbo just under 15. MY01 about 16-17.
See Evo's the Knowledge for other comparisons. http://www.evo.co.uk/knowledge/default.asp
10s is supercar quick.

Craigs car was amazing - based on what I read in mags and what I heard - and cost plenty!
The main differnce between his and mine was that he uprated all the internals, allowing him to run higher boost - say up to 1.8 bar - which is partly what gives the power
Having a replacement ECU allows you to increase the ignition advance and improves power - fuel and boost controllers dont allow this. In addition running standard injectors would be a mistake. I have 740cc injectors in the car which are signficantly bigger than std. Once water injection is on these will be running at near safe capacity and once the boost actuator is sorted it will be running at 370-380bhp at Well Lane - or about 340-360bhp at Power Engineering

general is full of p1sh these days anyway.
I will give comment on the system on my car(UK MY00).
first I did the down pipe(PE T75) and felt that the turbo spooled up slightly quicker and breathed slightly better top end,but not huge gains.then I got a Magnex 6x4 back box and felt no gains but seemed to highlight a flat spot at 4500rpm , but sounded great, even with the standard centre and louder than a m8's with d/p,magnex silenced centre and magnex 6x4 b/b .I then fitted a magnex straight through centre and it was as if the whole system came together.turbo spool even quicker, peak and held boost went up and it revved much better up top .I then fitted a 2nd hand round Magnex but refitted the 6x4 the next day as it was quieter.I then fitted a Blitz nur spec, this is the only b/b that I think gave a gain in performance, boost went up and turbo spool is even quicker and it revs much harder, this b/b is LOUD.I fitted an STI b/b for winter and it is definitely mote restrictive, turbo spool is slower and it is similar to the Magnex up top but it's nice and quiet for now.
hope this helps.
edit to add, the round magnex back box was quieter than the 6x4 in case that bit was not clear.

400bhp
Link or Motec or other decent replacemnet ECU - £1.5k - £3k mapped (with modules)
Scoobysport 3 inch downpipe and HKS hyper system - £800 fitted
APS front mount and APS filter - £1.4k fitted
Ported std headers - £150
740cc injectors - £600
Cossie Pistons £1k
lightened and balanced steel billet crank £1.5k
Stronger conrods and conrod bolts £500
Competition bearings £350
Group A Thrust Bearings £200
Metal head gaskets
Lightened flywheel
Cam follower Conversion set £200
Uprated AP Clutch £700 fitted
Forge Motorsport dump valve £150
3D mappable water injection - about £1k+
Turbo BRD 254 (BR Developments)or another Turbo dynamocs joobie - £1700 fited
Run at 1.8 bar - should be good for 400bhp
I'm sure I've missed something
400bhp - easy - if you've got about £15-20k to spare
over 400bhp - probably need to replace gearbox and diffs often!
You'd be advised
to put on 4 pot or 6 pot AP'S
Antilift kit
Fronty and rear MRT roll bars
Front and rear uprated strut braces
DMS suspension kit - ala Scoobyscenes Mellow
Roll Cage looks the business - ala Scoobyscene
(add another £5k )
Add the fact that your life wont exist for ages - best to buy with all this already done!
Exhausts - dont think you can go far wrong with Scoobymania or Scoobysport, but dont go for HKS downpipe - pants! - Mike at Scoobymania or Pete at Scoobysport
