Default Gearbox Replacement

URGENT

Hi,i have just been informed by a reputable specialist garage, that my gearbox has several stripped teeth on one of the gears.

I own a uk turbo 2000 MY98,with a gearbox code of TY752VN6AA,and have seen a gearbox from a uk turbo 2000 MY2000 X reg with a code of
TY754VN1AA and was wondering if this could be used as a direct replacement for my box,or if there were any other gearbox codes which would be a direct replacement ?

Please any help would be much appreciated.

think you might need to changed your rear diff as the ratios are different

According to a couple of other people any gearbox with "VN" in the code should be ok,because this denotes the diff ratio .

Could anyone confirm if this is the case ?

The UK ratios are the same and the box will be a direct replacement. I think there might be the need for a little modification as the later box has a slightly different design IIRC. However you may need to weigh up your other options depending on why the box let go in the first place.
