I been to 2 gearbox builders after I got a 5 speed PPG fitted in a TY754 geabox case.
You cannot shim each gear, just the pinion that allows the length of shift throw between 1,3 and 2, 4. And I think some other main shaft.
I get howl louder than expected since it's a helical syncro box.
And within 2000 miles it's very poor if changing reasonably quickly into 4th, and also into 2nd when cold. Very fast shifts e/g/ drag racing, I can beat the syncro's in 3rd and 4th .. which isn't good, even after changing oil to Mobil HDC ( which did improve matters. )
I am told the PPG gearset is not ideal on gear angle, and should have gone for a Possum Bourne gear kit for a few hundred more, almost factory like to drive.
