Default Rear Diff Pain

Hi All
Currently attempting to fit a P1 box to my early classic, I have the rear diff to match which is an R180, I bought some drive shafts that are from a Type R and again R180 shafts, but the shafts dont fit in the diff. Does anyone know what I'm missing. Its defo an R180 rear diff, and the new shafts are much thicker than the 160's I already have so I presume are 180 shafts but the shaft spline bit is too long for the diff. Are there different types of R180 shafts? i.e for plated, viscous e.t.c

Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Jon
