I've just looked at the i-club FAQ on resetting the ECU. There's the 'unclip the battery for 30 minutes' method, or the one where you plug the connectors together under the dash. Has anyone done the second method, and does it wipe your radio memory and set the alarm off?
PS. I've a forester turbo, not that will make any difference I don't think.

Question

If you have a late model car then I really wouldn't bother as they adjust fairly quickly to fast driving anyway. Some have tried the connectors under the dash (see MRT site for details) and have seen improvements - nothing earth shattering though. I've removed the ECU with the battery connected and all is OK so you could do it that way.

Don't bother IMHO, just go for a mild thrash when warm.

Absolutely no effect on any thing other than engine management settings. Battery disconnection is not reliable & may need disconnection much longer than you think :Like 24hrs. Ring me before 09.30 Tues. if you need more info. 07860302020.

Thumbs up

I've done the MRT approach to resetting the ECU (using the black/green connectors) and I've never had a problem with the radio, alarm, etc.... as this method does not disconnect the battery in anyway.

Thanks guys, I'll check out the connector method then. I find the car adjusts for performance quite happily, but it doesn't seem to adjust for economy so well. I've got to try it just for the craic!
