I've got an APS Cold Air Intake thingy, housed in the front wing of my MY98 5dr.

Of late, I've noticed that if you floor the throttle from idle, the car sort of *coughs* then spools up. Quite a delay really.

Anyone have any ideas why? I've checked that the filter isn't blocked, but thats about my technical limit.

Thanks

David,

There have been reports of lean running in the mid-range using the APS filter, are you using the standard ECU? do you have an AFR meter?

Thumbs up

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for pointing this out, but I've got a PE Phase1 ECU and went to PE immediately after fitment to make sure. Fueling was leaner, but not dangerously so.

Thanks again for the warning.

have you checked your spark plugs?

I is possible the cold air gives a more dense charge which is blowing out your spark. You may have been just below the treshold before but now are over it.

If it is leaner it generally means you have improved breathing so all seems well.
