hi i just bought a k reg wrx which has been converted to RWD wit a LSD i was very excited hence why i bought it! after approx 20 miles i blew wat i thought was a drive shaft, afetr gettin rather dirty on the floor i have found out its the diff! any ideas why this wud av blown so quickly? the diff has only done bout 400miles from new? is it better 2 put a nonlsd in.thanks guys

Rear diff can't cope with the power... There may be a stronger one available, but it will be a specialist part.
IMO, convert it back to AWD. The chassis is unsuited to RWD, and using a non-lsd in the rear would give you SERIOUS traction and handling problems....

thanks for that1 we havin serious issues at the momment we hav it stuck in the lane and all the other cars are behind it at bottom of the hill so cant even push it up lol thanks again for that so u reckon puttin an LSD in it wud b better than normal but its just gonna keepo blowin em??

I might be wrong, but you're basically putting all the power and torque through a component that was only designed to accept half of it.... I'm sure it's alot of fun to drive, but I can't see the rear diff lasting for any amount of time, without replacing it with a much stronger item.... Hope you get it sussed.

doesnt look like it wil be fixed any time soon my husband is underneath at present takin the diff out and his mate is on his way over wit the diff ouutta his so we can atleast move the car! do u think an LSD wud do 700 miles? lol silly question tho i think?

It's one of those things that could last for 1000miles with sympathetic driving..... It could also go within 1 mile if you abused it...

Have you any idea how much abuse the car had before you bought it ?

Could have been on it's last legs after 5,000 miles of sideways action.....

And flogged before it went bang.
