Default close ratio gearbox

subaru newbie here so do bear with me.

as far as i know i have a GC8 with a 5-speed close ratio gearbox and DCCD. i'm looking for more civility/economy on motorways, what options do i have?

-can i just change the 5th ratio or do i need to change the entire gearbox?
-if i change it to a normal wrx gearbox, i will lose DCCD. correct?
-is it true that, as standard, DCCD was only available on a close ratio gearbox?

give Scooby Clinic | The UK's Largest Independent Subaru Specialists | 01246 590 807 - Chesterfield S42 6QX a ring and have a natter.

while changing the 5th to a uk 5th gear would solve your problem, i'm not sure how having dccd affects the gearbox

just been told you can just switch 5th gear no probs, would get confirmation form an expert though, cos i aint one lol.

its a full strip down of the gearbox and switch a cog in it, so doubnt its very easy. there no specialist in your country?

which country is it by the way?

To do this correctly you need the 5th gear from the same year car and thats about it. Would be a big job as Tidgy says due to gearbox needing to be stripped down.

Nope as the final drive is still the same on the gearbox
