Prior to PPP my Defi gauge used to peak at about 1.3 kgf/cm2 now after PPP peak boost is 1.0 kgf/cm2, is this normal for the MY01 PPP to produce less boost, car is quicker but curious why less boost.

That's interesting.
The MY01 PPP ecu I've seen is a piggy back board inside the ecu. It modifies the MAP sensor input to the ecu based on RPM and the real map sensor input. Way better than a boost clamp or bleed valve, but (in my humble opinion only) not as clean a solution as a MY99/00 PPP which was a fully reprogrammed ecu, where the modified boost maps are actually in the ECU's own rom.
The proof's in the pudding though, and if it is effective, reliable, and more importantly has a warranty, then that's what matters.
Considering this, it's interesting that you get better performance with less boost. Is your held boost higher with PPP, but with less overboost perhaps ? Maybe it's the exhaust then that's making the difference for you.
You can pretty easily reverse the ecu mod to see. But that's a bit of a warranty killer.
Cheers
