snapped gear selector??
hi folks!
long time since Ive been on here (been in Africa for a year!)
anyhoo, got back to find me Scoob (95 WRX) has a gearbox problem - since I lent it out to someone whilst I was away!
basically the gear stick is 'loose'
after removing the gaiter to see thru under the car floor, I see there is a round rod which is attached just behind the gear stick, hooks around the gearstick and then extends forwards towards the gearbox - I assume its the gear selector rod
...anyhoo, it appears to be snapped just 300mm or so in front of the gear stick...I can see a weld at the end of the rod, which I'm guessing has broken
cant say much more cos the car is in a VERY tight garage and I cant get it out to check any further at the mo
...any thoughts
(I CAN select 1st and reverse if I jiggle the gearstick around enough)
can anyone identify it from this description and is it a major problem??
thanks
never mind - got the car moved: its a stabiliser bar for the selector.....I'll get a replacement
