Default Problem with DCCD? PLEASE HELP!

I just popped out to give the car a rinse at a jet wash and as its a bit wet and greasy out there I thought I'd switch the DCCD to the 1st orange light on the dash as that seems to be a bit of a favorite in these conditions with fellow owners on here after reading a few threads about it.

So I set off from my flat on the 1st orange light and made my way to the jet wash which is a drive down a bypass. So everything was fine, by when I pulled into the petrol station the car seemed to slow down a bit and come to s stop on its own, almost as if I was going up a slight hill and the just slowly bumped into something on the pavement, so I thought that was odd, and gave it a few revs and pulled again slowly, then it done the same thing, like the handbrake was binding? so I pulled the handbrake up and released it again, and the car kinda shuddered a bit, I pulled forward again and it done the same thing. Getting a bit worried about this I wound the DCCD all the way back to fully open and the whole car juddered forward, its definately the diff releasing, almost like its got locked and then released.

So in fully open diff the car pulls forward like normal and rolls back slightly if I put my foot back down on the clutch, where as it wasn't rolling back when I had the DCCD set at 1st orange light. I rinsed the car off in the jet wash, pulled out on fully open diff and thought Id give it one more go as the car had been re-started, sat stationary I put the DCCD back onto 1st orange light and it done exactly the same again, then I thought I'd try it on fully locked top orange light, but it didn't want to pull forward at all! stationary again, I put the DCCD back onto fully open setting and the car juddered forward again and kinda banged from the rear diff like it was releasing again.

After that I left it in fully open position and it drove as normal, but now I'm really worried something is seriously wrong with the diff / DCCD?

Could someone please shed some light on this and hopefully set my mind at rest if I was doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Az.

That is perfectly normal anything other than fully open and the car will judder and grab at parking speeds.I always (used to on the Type R) wind it fully open when i was slowing to a stop
Don't worry about it,id be more concerned if it didnt do anything like this at slow speeds

Freaks you out first time it happens...

I thought I'd somehow smashed it up the kerb when pulling into my folks place... then the penny dropped .
