i have a n reg wrx and nead a clutch i have been quoted £420+vat for a daikin clutch is that good or bad if any on knows any where in west mids that is good drop me a line thanks.

Fitted clutch myself, genuine Subaru parts (yes for my WRX) cover, plate & bearing. Also changed the spigot bearing as that was F'd. Total cost £256 incl vat. Helps though if you have access to a ramp.

Just about to the do the clutch change myself ... where did you get the Subaru genuine parts from? was it local dealer or mail order etc

Subaru clutches have been known to be a weak point. The garage that services mine, and lots of other scoobs, reckons its the weakest part of an otherwise excellent standard car. I've only done 14k in mine and it's just starting to slip. I've never heard of or used the brand you mentioned. That's not to say it isn't any good! I know that some of the guys on here have had cluthes repleced under subaru warranty with the P1 clutch, or maybe it was just the P1 cover that was used in the upgrade. I can't remember.
In my mind it is a way of the dealers saying, ok there is a problem here.

What I'm leading up to is, fitting an AP clutch, may, in the long run, be more cost effective, give longer life and better performance. I've never hear of anyone having problems with the AP and that's the way I'm going.

Just something for you to ponder.....

Pob - is the AP the "paddle clutch" - if so ive been told it tends to operate in an on/ off manner rether than feeding in like a normal clutch? - if so does this make driving in traffic hard - or even parking? Also what would i expect to pay for an AP fitted in a 95 WRX

hi, ive recently fitted an AP clutch to my turbo subaru. i fitted a mongoose exhaust system, chip, filter etc
the standard clutch then slipped badly from 3500rpm+ in 3rd/4th/5th due to the power increase, so it had to go.
the AP clutch is the organic type, is a bit harsher than standard, but i mean only a bit, is not noticable after a few weeks.
paddle is on/off and only recommended for competition.
for the subaru application, the clutch is rated 350bhp & 310lb/ft.
clutch pedal is slightly heavier, but no different to paddle, as they both use the same cover.
cheapest i found was £361 inc vat at Woodford Garage Motorsport.
note: AP clutches for subaru's do not include the release bearing. i bought a new bearing (genuine subaru part) for £91 inc vat from local subaru dealer.removed engine and fitted myself-no ramp access!
now friggin gearbox has gone!!
oh well, the fun of cars eh!

Agree with the comments above, and the pricee seems very good.

Should have made it clear the best option is the organic if you use the car as everyday transport.
